Holding the Bat Properly

Grip Strength:
The bat should be held firmly but not too tightly. A common analogy is to grip the bat like you would grip a bird—tight enough that it can’t escape, but not so tight that it would be harmed. This allows for wrist flexibility and speed in your swing.
Knuckles Alignment:
Line up your knuckles. Some coaches recommend aligning your door-knocking knuckles (the ones you would use to knock on a door) straight across. Others suggest a "box grip," where those knuckles are slightly off-set. Experiment to see what feels more comfortable and gives you better control and power.
