Chameleons sink Sharks 7-2

In their final tune up before opening day, the Camo’d Chameleons showed why they are a force to be reckoned this year in the AAA division of TSLL. In 2 innings of scrimmage play the Chameleons were able to record 7 outs to the Sharks 2.

The highlight of the night was the triple play turned by Victor, Jace, and Ellie. In the second inning with runners on first and second, and the score tied at 2, the Sharks cleanup hitter launched a fly ball to center field. Quick on his feet, Victor raced to the ball and snatched it out of the air. Wasting no time, he quickly relayed the ball to Jace who was covering second, doubling up the runner. Jace surveyed the runner off first and fired the ball to Ellie at first base, completing the ultra rare, triple play.

The Chameleons went on to record an additional two outs in the inning to cruise to victory.

While the Chameleon’s solid defensive play secured the victory, the offense showed why the Chameleon’s are the favorites to win Tempe South’s AAA division. Harper started the party in the bottom of the 1st with a loud frozen rope to left field. The entire lineup joined in the action with every Chameleon batter reaching base safely throughout the contest. Kainan, Ted, and Jace smacked towering shots over the fins of the Sharks outfielders and Ellie showed that she can hit, shooting an opposite field home run in the second inning. Solid contact was made by every Chameleon in the lineup and nobody was called out on 8 pitches.

Next up, the Chameleons face the historically disciplined team Prante, a team looking to stake their claim as the top squad in AAA.
